Project framework
In the European Union, the agricultural sector is the second emitting sector of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) with 430 metric tons of CO2, which represents 11% of the total.Intensive agricultural practices have depleted Soil Organic Carbon (SOC), seriously affecting its vital functions.Soil Organic Carbon is widely accepted as a good indicator of soil quality.During the 2015 Conference of Parties (COP), the “4 per 1000” initiative was launched. The goal of the initiative is to increase by 𝟎. 𝟒% the SOC content in the first 30-40 cm of soil, each year, promoting agroecological practices that increase the amount of organic matter in the soil.
